Equipment

  • medium mixing bowl

Ingredients

  • 1 cup seedless red raspberry jam
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce such as Tabasco
  • 1/2 cup tomato ketchup
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper adjust to your spice preference
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar optional, for a deeper sweetness
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice optional, for a touch of acidity

Instructions

  • Start by gathering all your ingredients together. It’s best to have everything on hand before you start mixing. You don’t want to leave the pan halfway through to hunt for that jar of jam!
  • In a medium mixing bowl, combine the 1 cup of raspberry jam and 1/2 cup of ketchup. Stir them until they create a smooth mix. The jam adds sweetness, while the ketchup provides that familiar tang.
  • Next, it’s time for the flavor boosters! Pour in 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce, 2 tablespoons of hot sauce, and sprinkle in the onion powder and garlic powder. This savory blend will take the sweetness of the raspberry jam to a new level.
  • Now, it’s time to kick it up a notch! Depending on how adventurous you are, add 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper. Stir your mixture again. If you love spice, feel free to increase this a little. But keep it safe if you're serving less adventurous eaters.
  • Taste your sauce. If you feel it could use a pinch of salt, go ahead and add that in. If you’re looking for a deeper sweetness, mix in 1 teaspoon of brown sugar. Finally, to finish it off and balance the flavors, squeeze in 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice.
  • Stir well until all the ingredients are thoroughly mixed. Pour your Bronco Berry Sauce into a container with a lid or a jar for easy storage. Voila! You’ve successfully created your very own Bronco Berry Sauce.

Notes

  • Taste as You Go: Adjust sweetness and spice according to your personal preference. Don’t be shy!
  • Use Quality Ingredients: The jam you choose can significantly impact flavor. Go for high-quality or homemade if you can.
  • Make Ahead: This sauce can be made a couple of days in advance and tastes even better after the flavors meld.
  • Experiment: While this recipe is delicious as is, feel free to play with the ingredients. Add a bit of fruit chili jam to change things up.
  • Pair Properly: Remember, this sauce is your companion for all things crispy and fried! Enjoy it with different dishes for maximum fun.
